Beautifully crafted Terrazzo Treads & Risers

When selecting materials for stairs, there are numerous options available, including traditional wood, metal, concrete, and terrazzo. While it is widely recognized in the construction industry that poured materials offer endless design possibilities, terrazzo stairs are often installed as precast elements rather than being cast in place.

Precast terrazzo stairs are a versatile choice for various settings, including institutional, commercial, residential, and industrial environments. They are incredibly durable and can last for years with minimal maintenance. Additionally, they feature a non-slip surface, which enhances safety. Terrazzo stairs come in a wide range of colors and designs, allowing for customization. When properly installed, terrazzo enhances the safety of the stairs.

Stair treads and risers are essential components of a staircase, each serving distinct functions. A stair tread is the horizontal surface of the staircase, commonly referred to as the step. In contrast, stair risers are the vertical surfaces that connect one tread to the next, forming the face of each step. The riser provides support for the treads.

Our terrazzo stairs are expertly crafted as prefabricated units in our workshop, ensuring precise design and high-quality workmanship. Once completed, these stairs are carefully transported and installed at the desired location, adding a touch of elegance and durability to the space

The most common type of stairs we produce is a one-piece tread and riser set, though we also offer treads only.

A One-Piece Tread and Riser

This design features a true “L”-shaped unit that eliminates the seam between the tread and riser, creating a seamless transition from the staircase to the flooring surface. Our customizable tread designs allow us to create risers with a ninety-degree angle or a smaller angle to achieve various aesthetic looks.

One design option highlights the tread profile by exposing the tread edges when viewed from the side. However, this design option incurs a slight premium due to the additional polishing required.

Together, the combinations of stair treads and risers create beautiful staircase designs that can connect multiple stories in any building. These designs can also include stair landings, which provide a resting point or indicate a change in direction.

Treads Only

This design features two options for stair treads: a full-support tread design or a self-supporting tread that creates a sleek, floating appearance.

Fully supported terrazzo treads are commonly used in most applications. In contrast, self-supporting treads are engineered to span between supports or stringers without additional support beneath, giving the illusion of a floating tread.

Furthermore, stair treads can incorporate risers that are just a few centimeters long, enhancing the floating effect with an exposed edge. Treads may also have completely or partially exposed edges.

All custom stairs come in various sizes and thicknesses, designed to fit any style of staircase. Types of stairs include straight stairs, quarter-turn stairs, half-turn stairs, winder stairs, curved stairs, and spiral stairs.

Straight Stairs: These connect the ground floor to an upper-level floor without any change of direction.

Quarter-Turn Stair: These stairs bend at an intersection at a 90-degree angle.

Half-Turn Stairs: Half-turn stairs connect to either a landing or an additional flight of stairs. The extra flight is known as quarter-landing stairs. The main difference between half-turn stairs and quarter-turn stairs is the direction of the turn; half-turn stairs require a pedestrian to make a 180-degree turn to continue up or down.

Winder Stairs: These are similar to quarter-turn stairs but feature a different landing. Instead of a flat landing, the landing curves, creating a more triangular corner piece.

Curved Stairs: These stairs curve at an angle but do not complete a full circle.

Spiral Stairs: Similar to curved stairs, spiral stairs have treads that form a circular movement around a central pole.

Terrazzo precast steps and stairs are ideal for high-traffic areas, providing excellent impact resistance while ensuring the safety of regular users. This makes them one of the safest flooring systems available for modern residential and commercial installations.
